We’re Kirklees…Are you?

Kirklees is firmly focused on the future.  Our vision is to create a district where residents enjoy a great quality of life, where communities are cohesive with high levels or economic prosperity and low levels of inequality, where children and young people are safe, and families are able to thrive.

Within our Children and Families Services, the Council and its partners have responded to our challenges, delivering change with pace and focus.  Improving outcomes for children and young people has been our number one priority and through our restorative approach, a culture of learning and continuous improvement, we have made huge strides forward, but there is still work to be done. We’re really proud of the feedback from our most recent Ofsted visit. You’ll be joining us at a time when we are moving to our next phase of our improvement journey and we are embedding evidence based practice, creativity and innovation to ensure our children, young people, families and carers experience the best practice from all aspects of our work. By placing children at the heart of all we do with your support we can ensure that all children within Kirklees can flourish and reach their full potential.

Our Head of Quality Assurance and Practice Development for Children’s Services includes the Principal Social Worker function and will have a key role to play in our ongoing improvement journey.  As Principal Social Worker you will lead by example and be visible to the workforce and enable change in the organisation. You will be the voice for social work and the champion of good practice for children’s services, nurturing professionalism, embedding quality standards and raising the profile of social work. You will work closely with other Heads of service and will be part of our experienced and supportive leadership team.

A qualified and Social Work England registered Social Worker with a strong background in practice that gives first-hand knowledge of what good looks like, you’ll be passionate about delivering the best possible outcomes for children and young people in Kirklees.  Resilient and determined, you will work restoratively with colleagues and partners to further develop our learning culture to drive continuous improvement.
