Assistant Curator
Kirklees Museums and Galleries are looking for an enthusiastic museum professional to join our curatorial and technical team as an Assistant Curator. You will bring specialist knowledge of at least one area relevant to our collections, specifically archaeology, natural history or industrial history. This is an excellent opportunity to work with our outstanding collections and to develop and improve your curatorial skills whilst enhancing our specialist knowledge and interpretation. Maintaining our Accreditation status, you will support our team through a major inventory project and collections storage review as we work to eliminate our collections backlog and improve storage and access conditions.
This is a challenging role within a small, close-knit group of enthusiastic and hard-working curators. Your primary focus will be on good collections management. You will also be able to share your enthusiasm for collections with diverse audiences. You will be flexible, organised, work well under pressure and be able to juggle conflicting demands. You will be supported by a friendly, skilled, and experienced curatorial team and rewarded with access to fantastic collections and a wonderful opportunity to work on a major relocation project.
