The Civic Office is looking for a Civic Attendant to join the Civic Team located at Huddersfield Town Hall.  This is a very busy team which directly supports the Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Kirklees to carry out their Civic role.

We are looking for someone who has a strong customer focus and who will be able to build relationships based on mutual respect and trust. The ability to offer clear, honest and unbiased professional advice with tact and diplomacy is also a must

The Role

For this role you will have great communication and organisational skills and as part of the role you will:

  • Liaise with event organisers and make all logistical arrangements required to drive the Mayor to and from events in the Civic car;
  • Accompany and attend to the Mayor at events, providing support and advice to them whilst they carry out their Civic role;
  • Provide advice to event organisers and ensure that Civic Protocols are advised and adhered to;
  • Engage with a variety of organisations and individuals forming and maintaining professional relationships with them. This will include the offices of the Lord Lieutenant and High Sheriff, senior military and veteran representatives, schools, faith leaders, charities and businesses;
  • Assist with the organising of Civic events, including small receptions, large Civic dinners, the annual Mayor Making Ceremony, military Freedom Parades and Remembrance Sunday parades and services, and act as macebearer and toastmaster as required;
  • Play a key role in delivering ‘Meet the Mayor’ sessions at all Town Halls, host visiting parties of schoolchildren, uniformed organisations and other interested parties, and give informative talks on the role of the Mayor, the insignia and the Civic Silver collection.
  • Be responsible for carrying out daily vehicle checks and ensuring that the Civic vehicles are cleaned and maintained in an appropriate way, including liaison with Transport Services for regular vehicle servicing/ad hoc repairs to be undertaken;
  • Be responsible for the security and domestic arrangements of the Civic Rooms (and their contents), and ensure that they are maintained in a clean, tidy and secure condition.
