    This is a permanent post that is term-time only (including Inset days).  It is to commence as soon as possible.  Working pattern is a split shift for 20 hours per week during term time Monday to Friday, we would welcome the opportunity to negotiate the exact timings to accommodate a candidate’s work-life balance. There will also be a requirement to work an extra 10 days across the school holidays. 

    Flatts Nursery School is a unique setting providing high quality and inclusive education in central Dewsbury. A vacancy has arisen for an enthusiastic, motivated and self-starting individual to join our team of support staff.  The successful candidate will be a key member in helping the Head Teacher to ensure the highest levels of Health and Safety for our School Community.

    The key functions of the role are:

    • Opening up the school premises and grounds and ensuring they are safe and fit for use before the start of the school day.
    • Closing and securing the school premises and grounds whilst leaving them in the best condition for the following day with any minor faults actioned.
    • Cleaning pre-determined areas of the premises and monitoring the cleaner(s) on site.
    • Assisting the Head Teacher with Health & Safety management by carrying out and documenting inspection, testing and monitoring routines as required by our Health and Safety policies.
    • Organise and oversee contractors to safely carry out repairs and rectify defects.

    You will need to:

    • Have practical ‘hands-on’ EXPERIENCE that will lend itself to such a role – the ability to fix and mend is essential.
    • Have the physical ABILITY to be able to carry out a wide range of physical tasks that will include litter picking, seasonal leaf clearance, lifting and carrying, working at heights etc. 
    • Present a positive ATTITUDE and act as a role model to our children.
