We are looking to recruit a Health Improvement Practitioner Advanced (HIPA) to join our team to provide specialist support and expertise on the drug and alcohol agenda.  This is a unique opportunity and would appeal to an experienced Public Health Specialist looking to progress to the next stage of their career.

The successful applicant will work closely with local providers of Substance Misuse Services, relevant Council, CCG/NHS and wider partners to support and drive forward the implementation of the recommendations set out in the recently published Drug Strategy, ‘From harm to hope: A 10-year drugs plan to cut crime and save lives’.

At this exciting, yet challenging time, we are looking for someone who is a systems leader, capable of achieving key public health outcomes through the development and maintenance of strong relationships with key partners. Working at strategic level across systems, sectors and organisations, the successful applicant will champion culture change by developing and building effective relationships and processes to achieve meaningful outcomes.

The ideal candidate will be qualified to Masters degree level or evidence equivalent experience and demonstrate specialist knowledge and expertise across the public health system. This should include a comprehensive grasp of the drug and alcohol agenda, as well as a solid understanding of wider determinants of health and the causes of inequality.   Specific experience of leading the development, management and implementation of key health programmes to identify and address local health inequalities is essential.

The post will sit within the ‘Safe & Informed Choices’ theme and may be expected to support broader public health workstreams as and when required.
