About the role

In Kirklees, we’re on an exciting journey to create a truly intelligence-led council that supports the delivery of the Kirklees’ Outcomes. This exciting new role will play a major part in delivering our ambition.

You will lead the implementation of Tableau (Desktop and Server) across the Council as well as establishing and developing our data engineering practice. To enable you to achieve this, we are creating a new Data Visualisation Team and a new Data Engineering Team.

We’ve already made positive progress in bringing together the data, research, consultation, intelligence, analytics and performance expertise from across the council and we are in the process of deploying Tableau across the Council. We need someone to join us who can take our Tableau implementation and data engineering practice to the next level.

Working closely with colleagues across the Intelligence and Performance Service, and senior managers across the Council, you will:

  • Lead the design, development and delivery of a range of data engineering projects to meet the Council’s data and analytical needs;
  • Lead the Council’s implementation of Tableau, leveraging the full functionality and capabilities of the technology;
  • Establish, lead, manage and develop a team of Data Visualisation Developers and a team of Data Engineers;
  • Lead the development and implementation of policies and procedures to improve the quality of the Council’s data;
  • Lead and embed agile development and delivery practices.

This role will provide you with the opportunity to work with senior managers and services across the Council and with a wide variety of interesting and high value datasets. The work you do will directly contribute to improving health, social and economic outcomes across Kirklees.

About you

We are looking for someone who shares our energy and ambition for how data and intelligence can be used to make a tangible difference to outcomes for people and places. You will have proven experience of leading change and be confident in building trusted relationships with stakeholders at all levels. You will be committed to continuous improvement and have a desire to succeed – individually and as part of a team.

You will have the technical skills, experience and expertise to lead and manage a wide-range of business intelligence and data programmes across the Council that result in efficient and effective working and the delivery of products that engage people and generate real value from data.

If you are looking for a role that is challenging and hugely rewarding and you have the skills and ambition we are looking for, we would love to hear from you.
