KIRKLEES COUNCIL ARE ADVERTISING THIS ROLE ON BEHALF OF IROKO PROJECT
We are building exciting plans to develop the Iroko Project and we would like to invite members of the Black African and Caribbean community to be part of the team.
Last year we listened to the Black African & Caribbean community to understand what was important to you. We spoke with over three hundred people about their lived experiences and worked to identify six priority areas that will make a difference to people’s lives. In February, we held a meeting where we presented the results and it was great to have the opportunity to respond to questions and hear from the community again. The community members present, unanimously expressed a wish to continue with Iroko and create a community led organisation to represent them.
We are now moving to establish the Iroko Project as a formal group and to develop our aims and aspirations, initially focused on the six priority areas as identified by the community.
We are looking for individuals from the Black African and Caribbean community to be involved in the work in a leadership capacity. This will involve providing guidance about how the priority areas will be delivered and supporting the development of an Iroko group. This may also involve taking on a trustee role.
