Voluntary position for which we pay reasonable expenses

Kirklees Council are advertising this role on behalf of Fusion Housing.

Fusion Housing is a registered charity based in West Yorkshire. We deliver a range of innovative preventative services for people at risk of homelessness and social exclusion. Our aim is to support people to overcome challenges and live their best lives.

We currently support over 2,000 service users a year in 3 local authority areas and employ around 85 members of staff. Fusion Housing has an annual turnover of around £5 million. We lease and manage around 450 units of accommodation along with providing person centred support services, legal advice, help with access to employment, and food bank provision.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit new Trustees to the Board. We are seeking motivated people who have an enthusiasm for our work and can demonstrate commitment to our charitable aims and values. We require Trustees who can demonstrate vision, knowledge, skills and relevant experience. Prior experience in a trustee or governance role is not essential.

We are particularly keen to attract applicants who have a background in:

  • social housing management
  • financial management
  • legal advice services

We are also interested in applications from people with personal or family experience of using support services and we welcome applications from people with transferable skills and pertinent experience gained in the charitable, public or private sectors.

You must be willing to actively participate in ensuring good governance across the organisation and developing our strategic direction. This will involve attending monthly Board Meetings, held early evening, either in person or via Zoom; our Annual General Meeting and occasional planning days. You will be expected to contribute to a sub-committee relevant to your area of expertise (currently these are Finance, Employment and Health & Safety). Sub Committee Meetings are held quarterly. You will be encouraged to visit services and to meet our staff and service users.

Our main office is in Huddersfield, situated close to the mainline train station.

In return for your valuable time and expertise we can offer you the opportunity to enjoy a rewarding role and to contribute to the growth and future success of a Charity with a strong person-centred purpose and ethos.

We are a welcoming and inclusive organisation, committed to increasing the representation on the Board of women, people from ethnic minority and LGBTQ+ groups and those with a disability.

The role of trustee is a voluntary position for which we pay reasonable expenses. We also support trustees with induction and on-going training.

To express your interest in the first instance, please send an introductory email or covering letter (up to 2 x A4 pages) and CV to HR@fusionhousing.org.uk Please outline what you can bring to the Board and the governance of our organisation, with reference to:
