We are looking for an exceptional Team Manager with a proven track record in managing both practitioners and case related performance. You will have a strong understanding of what best practice looks like and be passionate about inspiring and improving children’s lives, as well as the continuous professional development of social work practitioners.  A creative and flexible approach to work and the drive and motivation to work with families whose needs are complex is key.  Good people skills are a must.

Our Children in Care and Care Leavers Service is made up of 8 teams. Five Team Mangers are responsible for all Children in Care who have a plan for permanency via long term foster care, including friends and family care, residential care and placed at home on care orders.   One Team Manager works with children with a plan for Special Guardian Ship Orders, two Team Managers work with Care Leavers. The advertised post holder will be managing one of the teams working with Children in Care.

Working strategically as part of a wider management team to design and implement service changes and improvement, you will have opportunities to help shape the service to ensure children are protected; you will be accountable for the development and delivery of a complex range of key services in line with policy, best practice, professional standards and legislation, ensuring children and young people are always at the centre of social work practice and work undertaken by Personal Advisors.

As a manager you will provide supervision and opportunities for reflection and analysis, as well as being responsible for the allocation of casework and actively managing caseloads so that our practitioners are able to do the quality child centred work that they want to.

Your team will be working with children in care to ensure they are safe and achieve permanence for them which meets their needs, is in their best interest and also in line with their wishes and feelings.   The team will also work closely with colleagues from Leaving Care to ensure transition planning is in place for all our young people at a crucial time in there life’s and ensure that young people do not leave care until they are ready.

You must hold a recognised Social Work Qualification and be registered with Social Work England.
