Criminal Investigator – Market Surveillance Team

The Market Surveillance team has the responsibility for the enforcement of consumer protection legislation relating to food standards, feed, weights and measures, product safety, under age sales and the second hand car trade.  The Criminal Investigator will lead the enforcement activities of the MSU team relating to cars, gathering and developing evidence and intelligence conducting investigations into allegations of fraud, unfair trading and money laundering  leading to the prosecution of offenders at court, the seizure of assets and recovery of any losses to victims of crime.

Criminal Investigators – West Yorkshire Financial Exploitation and Abuse Team (WYFEAT)

This multi-agency task force at West Yorkshire Trading Standards undertakes complex criminal investigations, safeguarding victims and vulnerable adults in the community and also undertakes confiscation cases to remove assets from offenders and compensate victims. The types of cases WYFEAT investigate include scams, fraud, doorstep crime, and other financial abuse by family, friends, carers etc.  Alongside investigating criminality, the successful candidates will work with other key agencies including the Police and social workers to ensure that appropriate safeguarding measures are in place, whilst also liaising with victims of financial abuse to prevent further exploitation.
