Gateway to Care is an information and advice service provided by Kirklees Council. It aims to provide Kirklees citizens access to the social care and health services and information they need to remain independent and safe.

We are the first point of contact for social care enquiries for adults and carers who may have care and support needs in the Kirklees area.

We aim to support people at the initial point of contact, ensuring appropriate signposting, direct access to services or referral to appropriate teams in a timely and proportionate manner. 

As a Deputy Team Manager (DTM) you will:

Work closely with the Team Manager to ensure a quality ‘front door’ service is delivered to those people needing to access social care and health advice, information and support.

Ensure that services are strengths based and person centred and that they are delivered effectively, appropriately, in line with policy, best practice guidance and legislation and within resources. 

Be responsible for the day-to-day operational management, supervision and workflow of the team.

Be responsible for the day-to-day line management of a team of Information & Access Officers.

Ensure staff receive a formal induction, supervision, and appraisal in line with corporate policy.

Ensure that the staff you manage are supported and provided with opportunities to develop their skills and you will contribute to embedding a culture of continuous learning and development. 

Undertake key roles as set out in the safeguarding polices for adults. 

Ensure that the team performs to the required standards and that outcomes are met. 

Promote integrated working across all stakeholders.

Support the Team Manager to disseminate information and keep the team up to date.

You will have devolved financial management responsibilities relating to allocation of resources, adhering to financial processes and procedures.

Investigate initial complaints and work with the Team Manager to ensure that learning is embedded within the team and proactively resolve customer issues in a positive manner.

Be involved in projects where required to support service developments and to improve service user experiences.
