The Job
The main requirement of the Housing Officer role will be to support the Team Leader to work collaboratively across KNH, other Council services and key stakeholders to engage with tenants, leaseholders and occupiers of flats and high-risk residential buildings to ensure their voices are heard with regards to fire safety.
The key functions the postholder will be responsible for include:
- Engaging with tenants, leaseholders and occupiers of flats and high-risk residential buildings to ensure their voices are heard with regards to fire safety and which meet the requirements of the Fire Safety Bill
- Assisting in the development and implementation of block specific Fire Safety Resident Engagement Strategies for all high-risk residential buildings which ensures that tenants, leaseholders and occupiers are informed, consulted and involved in the management and maintenance of the blocks
- Engaging with tenants, leaseholders and occupiers to make them aware of, and ensure they comply with, their legal duties in relation to fire safety by using ‘hearts and minds’ campaigns.
- Assist in the development and implementation of a complaints process that meets the requirements of the Fire Safety Bill
To do this role you will need:
- GCSE (or equivalent) Grade 4 (C) or above in English & Maths or equivalent
- Excellent written and verbal communication with the ability to interact effectively and sensitively, in person, via the telephone and in writing with a range of stakeholders, internal and external
- Skill and ability to work with partner organisation to achieve common goals
- Proven experience and ability to understand the importance of budgetary control and proactively manage budgets
