This is an exciting opportunity to make a lasting impact on the lives of the most vulnerable children and young people in Kirklees.

Playing a key role in the Learning and Early Support team, our new Head of Educational Safeguarding and Inclusion will ensure we deliver the very best educational support to the young people who need us most.

In this role, you’ll provide strategic leadership across several key service areas – including Special Education Needs Assessment and Commissioning (SENACT), educational psychology, and our information advisory and safeguarding teams.

You’ll ensure that we understand the unique needs of our children and young people with SEND. Crucially, your leadership will help us translate that knowledge to deliver a local offer that goes above and beyond to achieve the best possible outcomes for all.

This is a complex role – so we’re looking for a candidate with the combination of knowledge and leadership skills required to understand the agenda and then to translate that into a detailed strategy for action on the ground.

To be successful, you’ll need the communication skills and political acumen to influence a wide range of stakeholders, across the education system in Kirklees and beyond.

As for career experience, there are several pathways you might have followed. It’s likely that you’ll have experience of managing a team in a relevant service area – or perhaps you’ve most recently been working in a leadership role in a special educational setting.

What’s certain is that it’s a great time to join us. Here in Kirklees we’ve made much progress over recent months. But there is more to be done, and you’ll find here a committed team who are already delivering great results.

If you’re ready for an opportunity to use your skills to influence at a strategic level – making a difference for thousands of young people – we would love to hear from you.
