Kirklees Council are advertising this role on behalf of The Holocaust Exhibition & Learning Centre.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to showcase their digital skills as part of the Second World War and Holocaust Partnership Programme (SWWHPP), an innovative and dynamic project led by Imperial War Museums and funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.

This is a great opportunity to gain experience working in museums, the cultural and heritage sector and with artists and communities of audiences to co-produce digital resources and activities that use local stories of the Holocaust to tell a global one.

This Internship is primarily aimed at applicants with confidence in using digital technologies, preparing for a career in digital and/or creative industries or already working in this field and looking for experience in an area where digital skills are in demand. No museum experience is required, but a passion for sharing stories is essential.

Essential Characteristics

  • Confident in using digital technologies to engage and inspire audiences
  • An interest in the role of digital in the cultural heritage sector
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience of using the Microsoft Office Suite of packages and Adobe (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop)
  • Ability to show empathy towards people with traumatic histories and migratory backgrounds

Work Environment

Based at the University of Huddersfield, The Holocaust Exhibition and Learning Centre (HELC) is part of the Holocaust Survivors’ Friendship Association (HSFA), a registered charity set up in 1996. Our aim is to preserve the memory, testimony and records of the Holocaust survivors based in the North of England for research, teaching and learning.

Within the Second World War and Holocaust Partnership Project, you will have the opportunity to engage with professionals from 9 museums across the UK, and to be exposed to sector-defining co-creative practice.
