The base salary for this position is up to £49,487 (Grade 15). A market rate supplement is available up to a total remuneration of £55,000.

The role will be predominantly home-based with some travel to Kirklees, regional and national meetings required as part of the role.

Building on some of the fantastic work delivered during the Covid-19 pandemic, we’ve recently developed an ambitious Data and Insight Strategy. To support and enable delivery of our Strategy, we’re in the process of building a new Data and Insight Function within the Council.

About the role

This role is one of several exciting new roles we’ve created to provide leadership and drive improvements in our use of data and insights. You will act as the Council’s technical lead for our Tableau platform. You will ensure the technical capabilities and functionality of Tableau Desktop and Tableau Server are maximized efficiently, whilst implementing best practice standards in visual design.

Through the deployment of Tableau, you will lead on the delivery of data to staff at all levels across the Council, ensuring data is quick and easy to access and understand. You will embed the use of self-service data to improve data literacy across the workforce, developing a data culture. The work you do will directly contribute to improving health, social and economic outcomes across Kirklees.

You will effectively manage and prioritise demand for Tableau developments from across the Council and oversee the delivery of projects through the leadership and management of a team of Tableau Developers. You will play a significant part in us achieving our ambitions for data and insight use.

About you

We are looking for someone who shares our energy and ambition for how data can help us to understand needs, experiences and perceptions and generate actionable insights to improve public services and make a tangible difference to outcomes for people and places.

You will have proven experience of leading and nurturing technical teams and be confident in building trusted relationships with colleagues at all levels. You will be committed to continuous improvement and have a desire to succeed – individually and as part of a team.

You will have the knowledge, skills, experience and expertise to lead and manage a broad range of Tableau projects and be confident in your ability to develop, implement and embed best practice standards, tools and approaches, ensuring quality is central to everything we do.
