Kirklees Council are recruiting Home Support Workers for the

MOBILE RESPONSE TEAM

CAR DRIVERS ONLY – POOL CAR PROVIDED

For the post you will have access to a pool car vehicle when on shift (for council Business only)

3 x Permanent posts (1 x 28 hours and 2 x 30 hours per week)

1 x Temporary post (28 hours per week until October 2023)

Social Care is at the heart of our communities, providing care and support for vulnerable people at various stages of their lives and for a variety of reasons. It is challenging and demanding work, yet ultimately rewarding as you can directly make a difference to the quality of a persons’ life and their day-to-day experiences.

The Mobile Response Service provides a fast and effective response to support Service Users who have a ‘carephone’. The support we provide will be in their own home, in situations where the Service User may need urgent assistance.

Your role will include supporting individuals in a time of crisis and when they need urgent help.

For example:

  • Where there is no response from individuals to telephone calls (from carephones)
  • Non-injury Falls and accidents
  • Personal care needs
  • Reassurance calls
  • Problems with assistive technology

Your role may also include supporting individuals with their daily activities which can include getting up (you may be required to support with elements of moving and handling including hoists as part of the role), personal care (which can be of an intimate nature), showering/bathing, assisting with toileting, dressing and getting people ready for the day ahead / all meals and drinks / support to mobilise around their home / medication management / getting ready for bed etc

DAY SHIFTS

28 HOUR CONTRACT - 8 hrs shifts – on a 4-week rolling rota

Early shift (7am – 3pm) / Late shift (2:30pm – 10:30pm)

Week 1 = early shifts (Mon / Tues / Weds / Sat / Sun) – 5 days

Week 2 = early shifts (Thurs / Friday) – 2 days

Week 3 = late shifts (Mon / Tues / Fri / Sat / Sun) – 5 days

Week 4 = late shifts (Weds / Thurs) – 2 days

All Shifts will include weekends, evenings, and Public Holidays.

Please note: You will be required to work across all of North or South Kirklees in order to meet the needs of the service.
