Kirklees Council are advertising this role on behalf of Archaeological Services WYAS.

Due to a significant work stream, Archaeological Services WYAS are seeking to appoint a number of Field Archaeologists within our Excavation division, on either a temporary (up to 6 months in the first instance) or casual basis (if preferred). The roles would suit anyone early in their career and support/training will be provided as you expand your skills base.

Archaeological Services WYAS are looking for enthusiastic individuals, with good communication skills and a desire to learn.

Ideally you will hold a degree in Archaeology or a related discipline. Some commercial field experience would be desirable, as would a CSCS card. We will continue to help you develop your expertise within commercial archaeology and offer industry and other H&S training as required.

The positions are based in Morley, West Yorkshire and would be ideal for candidates looking to commute from Leeds, York, Bradford or Sheffield. Our fieldwork is a mixture of home and away work, so candidates should be willing to undertake both.

Our standard week is 37 hours. The posts are advertised as full time.

High quality PPE is provided.

A full UK driving license is essential.

Telephone interviews are likely to be held w/c 19th June 2023, but early applications are recommended as we may appoint sooner if the right candidate applies.

We are an equal opportunities employer where employees can enjoy a range of benefits including a very generous pension scheme and holiday allowance (25 days plus bank holidays), overnight subsistence on all away work and flexi and sickness benefits.
