Kirklees Council are advertising this role on behalf of West Yorkshire Combined Authority.

We are seeking to appoint a Service Manager in our Business Support team within the Economic Services Directorate. You will manage three closely related grant schemes, #Welcome and #Grow, which provide financial assistance to support the growth of businesses in the creative and digital sectors and the Strategic Inward Investment Fund, which supports inward investment into Leeds City Region.

There is currently funding for the post until 31 March 2022.

It is an exciting time to be joining the Combined Authority, following the announcement that a £1.8bn devolution deal has been secured for West Yorkshire. Devolution will enable us to drive up living standards for local communities while tackling the climate emergency and help deliver our commitment to become a net zero carbon city region by 2038.

The role

Reporting into the Senior Service Manager (Access to Finance) your key responsibilities will include:

  • Project management of the three schemes outlined above.
  • Appraising applications for financial support from businesses.
  • Developing and maintaining working relationships with key partners and stakeholders to ensure effective delivery of the above schemes.

About you

You will have the following key skills, attributes and experience but not be limited to:

  • Excellent analytical and written skills
  • An understanding of the issues facing small and medium sized businesses
  • Experience of working with a wide range of stakeholders, including direct engagement with businesses.
