Are you passionate about improving outcomes for people, partners, and place?

We are too! Kirklees Council is a great place to work. We’re proud of our achievements, realistic about the challenges, and ambitious for the future. We want to be innovative and creative in the way we deliver our services to our communities. We know we have challenging times ahead, so we are always looking for better and smarter ways to work. We’ve been on a journey over the recent years to develop a very different organisation, one which is outcome-focused. You can find out more about the Council and its shared outcomes here: www.kirklees.gov.uk/councilplan.

Based in the Policy and Partnerships team and working across all Council services, this role will focus on making the most of external funding opportunities, supporting the Council and its partners to identify and successfully draw down resources that help us deliver our shared outcomes. The post-holder will work particularly closely with Finance and Legal services, and with partners from large organisations like the NHS to small local voluntary organisations.

We are looking for someone who knows how to identify appropriate external funding and investment sources and who has the skills to make successful bids.  Supporting others across the organisation, you will also have a detailed understanding of grant application processes, including being able to spot risks and opportunities, and work within procedural and compliance requirements (e.g. internal and external audit).

You will need to be proactive and inquisitive and able to anticipate situations and seek creative solutions. You will see the links between possibilities and the outcomes we seek, and be able to make the most of them, paying close attention to detail.  You will need strong written and verbal communication skills that you use to persuade others and build networks.

We are passionate about making a difference, and we hope you are too. To be effective in this role you will be flexible and collaborative and work co-operatively and innovatively across a broad spectrum of agendas, at the heart of the organisation.

Some of the benefits to working for Kirklees Council are: generous annual leave entitlement, Local Government Pension Scheme, staff discounts, access to occupational health services, comprehensive training, and opportunities for personal development.

And as well as that, you’ll get to work with people that care deeply about making a difference, across a variety of programmes of work that will change lives for the better, in an environment where you can excel.

The role provides a great opportunity to step up into a pivotal position within Kirklees Council.
