The main requirement of the Project Officer Fire Safety role will be to work collaboratively across Council services and key stakeholders to oversee the client responsibilities for planning and the delivery of numerous fire safety programmes.

There are several functions the post holder will be responsible for including:

To develop an understanding and awareness of the emerging Building Safety Bill and how this will impact on the work of the team.

To work to manage a multi-disciplinary team to plan and deliver the programmes of work.

To establish relationships with key stakeholders including elected members, Kirklees Council and customers.

With the general manager to plan and oversee the delivery of key fire safety programmes in line with the asset management strategy

To continually review service delivery and develop continual improvement.

To have a detailed understanding of health and safety in relation to scheme delivery, specifically CDM

To provide technical support, advice and recommendations in relation to scheme delivery.

To have a good understanding of the financial aspects of scheme delivery, working closely with contractors, site teams and the senior Quantity Surveyor, to monitor and manage variations, under and overspends. And understanding of the various budgets.

To provide detailed reports to General Manger in relation to scheme progress against the overall programme

To ensure that the relevant standard operating procedure are adhered to in relation to planning, delivery and completion of multi faced capital and revenue scheme.

To develop an overarching engagement approach and establish new and innovative ways of engaging with tenants, leaseholders.

To do this role you will need:

Recognised substantial technical expertise and experience which supports the councils outcomes such as regeneration, building safety and compliance including relevant legislation

Willingness to work towards HNC/HND

Excellent written and verbal communication with the ability to interact effectively and sensitively, in person, via the telephone and in writing with a range of stakeholders, internal and external.

Ability to lead, develop and support a multi faced technical and customer focused team.

Skill and ability to work with partner organisation to achieve common goals.

Proven experience and ability to understand the importance of budgetary control and proactively manage budgets.

Proven experience of planning and delivery of key investment schemes
