We are looking for a talented experienced social worker to join our Fostering Service, the service is made up of several teams.  Two teams provide supervisory support to our foster carers and we have two further teams involved in the assessment of emergency Connected and mainstream foster carers and carers applying for guardianship of the children and young people in their care.

We have a small team of Fostering Advisors who are involved in marketing and recruitment of prospective foster carers.

There is a designated team of qualified and unqualified staff who work in our Placements Team tasked with securing foster care and residential provision for children and young people in Kirklees.

You will be joining a highly experienced and stable team of supervising social workers and senior practitioners in this newly created post. You will be managed by a Team Manager with extensive experience of working in fostering and management of the supervising social worker aspect of fostering.

This is an exciting new initiative in Kirklees as we work jointly with The Fostering Network to develop the Mockingbird project. We have obtained the license to establish this model of foster care provision and you will be instrumental in its development and implementation. We are currently looking to create 2 foster carer hubs in the first instance.

The successful candidate will be at the start of the process and play a key role in its promotion across the council to all its different stakeholders. You will be given opportunity to develop your skills and adopt different ways of working with foster carers in establishing the first Mockingbird hub. This may include developing training courses and learning opportunities for both carers and professionals.
