Are you passionate about and highly committed to helping people live in good quality and safe housing?
Kirklees Council’s Housing Solutions Service delivers a range of services aimed at preventing and relieving
homelessness for people across the district. Where people need emergency accommodation, the Council
may provide them with temporary accommodation which they can live in until they secure permanent
housing.

We are looking to expand our service to help meet the challenges of post-pandemic housing pressures. We
are therefore seeking a Handyperson with a ‘can-do’ attitude who can support the delivery of good quality
and safe temporary accommodation.

The Handyperson team works to bring empty temporary accommodation properties back into use. Carrying
out minor repairs, clearing properties of abandoned belongings and other hazards and preparing the
property for the next resident.

You will work closely with Housing Solutions Officers from the Accommodation Team and colleagues in
other Council Services. You will also deal with customers face to face when dealing with minor repairs in
tenanted properties.

Due to the manual nature of this job a good level of fitness is essential as is the ability and license to drive
a light goods vehicle.
