This job is temporary to cover a vacancy

Internally restricted job. To apply for this job you must be an employee of the Council for the duration of the recruitment process – up to and including the start date. You must also be a substantive employee (or an employee with 12 months continuous service or more) of the Council or an Apprentice. Kirklees Museums & Galleries has four sites; Tolson Museum Huddersfield, Bagshaw Museum Batley, Oakwell Hall & Country Park Birstall and Huddersfield Art Gallery. All sites have a wide range of collections, year round exhibitions and events programmes and income generation activities including retail outlets, weddings and venue hire. The service also has a pop up museum which takes collections and activities out into the heart of Kirklees’ communities.

We are looking for a committed, motivated, creative and enthusiastic team player with a passion for museums, galleries and their collections. You will enjoy raising our profile and driving visitors to our sites, events, learning and outreach programmes as well as our social media channels.

Requirement for this job:

  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Experience of marketing methods and campaigns
  • Experience of promotion through press campaigns, printed marketing material and social media
  • Experience of working in a heritage setting or similar
  • Ability to work across a number of museum and gallery sites
