As Deputy Principal, you will play a crucial role in empowering our pupils to overcome challenges, develop essential life skills, and achieve their full potential.

Deputy Principal Responsibilities:
➢ School culture: Help support a positive school culture and ethos
➢ Teaching and learning: Effectively support effective pedagogical approaches to ensure teaching and learning is of the highest quality throughout school.
➢ Curriculum and assessment: Ensure our curriculum offer within school is of the highest quality and meets the needs of our pupils.
➢ Behaviour: Help develop a strong culture of positive relationships within school that supports good behaviour.
➢ Additional and special education needs and disability: Ensure the school holds ambitious expectations for all pupils with additional and special educational needs and disabilities.
➢ Continuous school improvement: Work with the school leader to implement effective improvement strategies, which lead to sustained school improvement over time
➢ Working in partnership: Forge constructive relationships beyond the school, working in partnership with parents, carers and the local community
➢ Governance and accountability: Establish and sustain professional working relationship with those responsible for governance
➢ Child protection and safeguarding: Understand our contextual Safeguarding issues at Boothroyd an ensure that the school complies with all national and local safeguarding requirements.
➢ Deputise: Deputise for the principal in their absence

5. Experiences: Prior leadership experience, is essential. We are a large 3 form Primary school and the we are looking for candidates who have successfully managed teams, implemented initiatives, and demonstrated effective decision-making.
6. Problem-Solving Skills: A strong Deputy Principal can analyse complex issues, identify solutions, and implement effective strategies. Problem-solving abilities are crucial for addressing diverse challenges in our school setting.
7. Resilience: The education field can be demanding. A resilient candidate will handle setbacks, stress, and adversity with grace, maintaining focus on the well-being of pupils and staff.
8. Curriculum Expertise: A Deputy Principal should understand curriculum development, assessment, and pedagogical approaches.
9. Willingness to Make Mistakes: This candidate embraces a growth mindset, understanding that mistakes are opportunities for learning and improvement. They are not afraid to take risks and learn from their experiences.
10. Practice Development Based on Current Research: This candidate stays informed about the latest educational research and adapts their teaching practices accordingly. They seek evidence-based strategies to enhance pupils learning and continuously refine their methods.
