Trainee Educational Psychologist
Kirklees council has a strong commitment to continuing to provide excellent services to support its very diverse community and places high value on the educational psychology team’s involvement in this. Kirklees embraces workforce development and new entrants into the profession and as a consequence, is keen to recruit two creative and dynamic Trainee EPs to join and enhance our large friendly and enthusiastic team. This opportunity is open to trainees entering the 2nd or 3rd year of their training in September 2023.
Our service has a broad and continually expanding remit within the local authority with a strong drive to promote inclusive practice and enhance the learning of all children and young people. Our model of delivery combines a balance of core and traded work, both highly valued by schools and partners. We have a central role across the local authority in relation to social emotional and mental health being a lead partner in the Mental Health Support Teams in schools with a specific focus on the developing a whole school approach, providing a broad training and development offer to schools in relation to supporting children in care and are in our third year of delivering the Alex Timpson programme in which we support schools to develop and embed strong attachment aware and trauma informed practice. Additionally we train and supervise Emotional Literacy Support Assistants across a growing number of schools as well as provide training and support in relation to Therapeutic Story Writing and Storylinks, among other things.

Travel is an essential part of this job and therefore it would be extremely difficult for you to do your job effectively if you did not use a car for all or most of the time. It is essential that you hold a full and valid driving licence and have a car available for work (exceptions may be made for disabled candidates).
