The position is fixed term, based on the continuance of the Sports Premium budget. This will be reviewed at the end of August 2023.

We have a highly active and talented group of pupils who will benefit greatly from an inspirational sports leader in school. This post should excite a candidate with a particular interest in sport as well as all the components necessary to lead a healthy lifestyle. The successful candidate will work with a high degree of independence and therefore initiative and vision will be essential attributes.

You will be responsible for:

· building capacity and capability within the school to ensure that improvements made now will benefit pupils joining the school in future years;
· finding new and exciting ways to engage all pupils in regular and meaningful physical activity;
· develop the skills of school sports teams to compete successfully at local, regional and national events, ready for when these events begin again;
· working with children and families to increase levels of knowledge around diet, nutrition and the benefits of a healthy lifestyle.

In addition, the successful candidate will actively support the Mission Statement and the Ethos of our Catholic Primary School. We are also looking for a candidate who is happy to undertake first aid training. In addition, the successful candidate will need to be flexible with their start and finish times, as after school sporting fixtures and possible Saturday events may need to be covered during term time, when these begin again.

In return, our governing body value the health and wellbeing of our staff and provide a range of benefits. All staff at our school can self-refer, for free, to Kirklees Council’s purpose-built Occupational Health Unit, in Huddersfield, for Physiotherapy, Counselling and wellbeing services, HEAL (Healthy eating active lifestyle) scheme etc. In addition, we have free flu jabs in winter and free tea and coffee facilities. As a ‘Leader in Me’ school, both staff and pupils work together to create an effective school environment where everyone is important.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All staff are subject to an enhanced DBS check.
