We are looking to recruit a Technician to join our Design Technology team.

In this individual we want to see a self-starter, someone who is proactive, enthusiastic and above all enjoys working with young people.

The successful candidate will support the Head of Department and Teaching staff in Design Technology, planning ahead and preparing materials and equipment ready for lessons, in line with lesson plans.

Some workshop or transferable experience would be preferred with an ability to prioritise the requirements of the department and work independently to complete tasks is required to be successful in this role.

Responsibilities will also include working alongside students in the classroom supporting their development of skills, maintaining adequate stock levels and ensuring that routine maintenance and repairs of equipment and machinery is undertaken.

A knowledge of, or willingness to learn, the relevant health and safety requirements and, most up to date guidance and risk assessments is essential.

Applicants do require literacy and numeracy skills (at least GCSE grade C/4 in Maths and English) to qualify for this role.

This role would suit someone who enjoys working with young people, who believes it is a privilege to be a part of their journey into adulthood, and who understands the challenges faced by young people growing up in today's world.

Support staff are also part of our student coaching programme, being responsible for a group of students they can build relationships with and be the point of contact throughout the students’ time in school.

This is a key time to join Spen Valley High School having just been awarded ‘Good’ in all areas by Ofsted in March 2022, to build upon our many strengths and further develop a truly coherent and high-quality provision for our students. In this role you will work alongside a team of highly professional & dedicated staff, who are welcoming, courageous, openminded and supportive. We are proud to have been part of the Alex Timpson Programme and have recently been awarded the Attachment Research Community (Secondary) Award which recognises our commitment to becoming a Trauma Informed School.

When joining Spen Valley you are entering a supportive environment where we pride ourselves in offering a wide range of CPD opportunities including a bespoke CPD package through the National College. Being a member of Red Kite Alliance, we receive support, advice and training from some of the most successful schools in Yorkshire.

Staff Benefits include:
