This job is temporary for up to 12 months due to funding

The Principal Information Governance Officer is a new generic role to provide operational management of the Council’s Information Governance Team.

About the Role:

You will be required to manage a team of Information Governance Officers and Information Governance Assistants, as well as supporting services with their IG requirements, ensuring Council meets legislative obligations and acting as deputy DPO.

Your areas of responsibility will include oversight of Council’s Information Security approach, UK GDPR compliance in particular effective risk assessment across all instances of personal data collection and ensuring the effective operation of the Council’s Central Archive.

You must be highly knowledgeable of the UK data protection, FOI and EIR legislation and be able to discuss and explain legislative requirements in a positive and open manner.
