In Kirklees, we’re on an exciting journey to create a truly intelligence-led council that supports the delivery of the Kirklees’ Outcomes. This role represents a genuine opportunity to influence and will place you at the heart of what is to come as the council moves forward.

The use of intelligence has been fundamental in our response to the Covid-19 pandemic and will continue to be as we take an evidence-led approach to recovery from the pandemic.

As one of two deputies to the Head of Intelligence and Performance, you will have a pivotal role in driving the transformation of how we use intelligence and insight to inform decisions at all levels.

We’ve already made positive progress in bringing together the data, research, consultation, intelligence, analytics and performance expertise from across the council. We’ve invested in modern intelligence and analytics technology and are in the process of deploying Tableau across the Council.

The service is now well positioned to work in a more connective and collaborative way - encouraging synergy, innovation and improved outcomes. But, this is just the start! We now need to develop our people, our capabilities and our culture. This is where you come in.

Working closely with the Head of Intelligence and Performance, and senior managers across the Council, you will:

  • Provide strategic direction and vision and influence the approach to intelligence and performance with partners across Kirklees.
  • Promote the use of evidence-based decision making, supported by robust evaluation processes.
  • Identify and act on opportunities for where intelligence can support service delivery and inform strategic decision making within the council and with partners.
  • Manage and develop teams responsible for the provision of intelligence, data analytics, research, consultation and performance management support to the council.
  • Develop and deliver a programme of work to improve the data and intelligence skills of staff across the council and transform the council’s intelligence and performance culture.

About you

We are looking for a senior professional with proven experience in driving change and proficiency. You’ll be confident in building trusted relationships with stakeholders at all levels. We’d also expect you to bring professional expertise in the fields of business intelligence, data analytics and continuous improvement.

You’ll be energised by change, new ways of working and the opportunity to improve services to make a tangible difference to people’s lives. We’re looking for someone who shares our ambition to be at the forefront of intelligence services.

As a leader and manager, you’ll be collaborative and consultative - with the strength of character to provide clear direction and make decisions when the situation requires.

You’ll understand how local government and wider public services operate and ideally have a detailed understanding of those services that provide support to vulnerable children and adults.
