Kirklees Council has a number of centres across the authority that form part of our Outdoor Learning offer. Where we provide a residential, adventurous activities, environment studies, alongside outdoor learning courses and adult team building sessions. Kirklees Council operates under AALA (Adventure Activities Licensing Authority)  licence across all its venues. You will work as part of a team to develop, support, contribute to and deliver a programme of outdoor learning activities that are appropriate for a range of groups enabling all participants to overcome barriers and achieve their full potential.

You will be initially based at Cliffe House Outdoor Learning Centre which has just completed a £1.5 capital refurbishment project, working alongside an established team of 5 other instructors and an apprentice. We have a strong existing client base of 50+ schools that use us on a regular basis and a growing activity and events programme.

You will contribute to the outdoor learning programme for a wide range of participants visiting our Centres. To support groups in team building, orienteering, bushcraft and other activities/sessions as directed.

Working hours would be 22 hours per week on average over annualised hours. Core delivery would be 37 hours per week between March and October with 16 hours per week beyond that on average. Overtime may be available.

Requirements for this job:

• Recent and relevant experience of working with children/young people within the outdoor learning environment

• Experience of leading and supporting groups in team building, orienteering, bush craft and other outdoor learning sessions.

• Ability to assist the Outdoor Learning Team in planning and preparing class activities for children.
