We want Kirklees to be a place which combines a strong and sustainable economy with a great quality of life; a place with thriving communities, growing businesses, high prosperity, low inequality and where people enjoy better health throughout their lives.

The Kirklees economy is worth over £6bn, and as part of the Leeds City Region we are within the largest economy  outside of London and the South East. We are also well placed at the heart of the Northern Powerhouse with easy access to South Yorkshire and Greater Manchester, excellent transport links via the M1 and M62, and fabulous countryside and strong heritage.

We are looking to establish a new fixed-term post to support the development and implementation of a new business start-up/self-employment initiative as part of the adopted local Economic Recovery Plan.

The post will support achievement of the adopted Kirklees Economic Strategy and achievement of key Kirklees Council outcomes - most notably 'Sustainable Economy' by ensuring Kirklees residents, including those made redundant as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, are aware of the option to become self-employed or start their own business and
can access the necessary advice, support and mentoring.

You will have experience of developing and delivering successful enterprise programmes within other Local Authority areas and organisations, including in deprived communities and with 'hard to reach' groups. You will work alongside an existing member of the Business And Skills team, sharing learning and providing mentoring and support.

Patrick Loye is the manager for this role, please contact them on 01484 221000 for an informal discussion, or if you need any more information.
