Kirklees Council has a strong commitment to continuing to provide excellent services to support its very diverse community and places high value on the educational psychology team’s involvement in this.  This is a new and additional post within our senior leadership team structure arising from an increase in demand for educational psychology involvement in development work across the LA and its partners which requires Senior EP oversight, involvement and supervision. Current examples of such work secured by the service includes lead partner in the successful bid to pilot two Mental Health Support Teams in schools funded via the NHS, delivering and implementing the Alex Timpson Programme on attachment and trauma aware schools in Kirklees, leading on the LAC school/setting training and development agenda for the LA, developing ELSAs in schools and the Talk Boost Intervention (ICAN).

As a team, we have a strong drive to promote inclusive practice and enhance the learning of all children and young people.   Our model of delivery combines a balance of core and traded work, both highly valued by schools and partners, which consists of individual focused interventions to broader and systemic involvement across schools, settings and the wider LA including innovative work in relation to children in care, school based SEMH development work, systemic involvement and developing person centred approaches to name but a few.

We are keen to recruit a highly skilled, creative and dynamic senior educational psychologist to join our friendly and enthusiastic team who can support us with our broad and continually expanding remit within the local authority. We have a strong commitment to supporting your development and actively encourage growth in areas of interest and expertise, utilising your experiences and enthusiasm to feed into service and wider authority developments.

We are looking to recruit a Senior EP who:

  • Relishes the opportunity to play a lead part in the delivery of educational psychology support across schools, settings, the LA and key partners
  • Is ready to and capable of leading and managing a group of educational psychologists in all aspects of service delivery as well as having a lead area of responsibility in relation to development work
  • Thrives on opportunities for both personal development and growth and actively supports that of other team members
  • Enjoys variety and the opportunity to be creative in their practice
  • Is excited by the prospect of shaping and supporting key strategic developments across the local area
  • Is strong on consultation and utilises a dynamic approach to assessment
  • Wants to work within a large, friendly and supportive team with access to excellent administrative support and IT facilities.

All applicants must be professionally qualified and HCPC registered.
