Required from January / Easter 2021

We are seeking to appoint a permanent, full Teacher of Geography with the ability to teach History to KS3.

The successful candidate will be required to teach Geography up to KS4.

First and foremost, we require a teacher who can build excellent relationships with students. We are also seeking to appoint somebody with a good sense of humour and who enjoys working in a team. These are hugely important qualities in terms of collaborative working, but also in getting the very best out of our students.

A strong commitment to the extra-curricular life of the school is essential.

Subject knowledge is important, as is an up-to-date knowledge of the latest developments in Geography. The successful candidate will thoroughly enjoy teaching their subject and understand the importance of Geography in contributing to our students’ wider development.
In return, we offer an outstanding learning environment, working with students who are typically above national average attainment at start point in Year 7. Our Geography department is among the strongest in the school both in terms of attainment at the end of Key Stage 4 but also in terms of the progress that students make.

The staff body is very experienced and we have a highly committed team who always ‘go the extra mile’ for the school and community. All staff are expected to contribute to the development of new resources and to work collaboratively with others. We also offer excellent professional development opportunities and a wide range of facilities. This will prepare the successful candidate for further leadership as well as developing subject knowledge and pedagogy.

The school has recently achieved confirmation that school remains ‘Good’ following a Section 8 Ofsted Inspection; this involved a very successful ‘deep dive’ in the Geography department. We consider many aspects of our provision to be excellent and we are now working to securing even further improvements at the school.

Standards of behaviour are excellent. We achieve this because of a very strong team work ethic in pastoral management, but also we do not tolerate poor choices without proportionate consequences. As a new member of staff, you will find the school to be an extremely welcoming environment to teach in.

This is a superb opportunity to come and join a school where you will succeed and see our students make great progress over their time with us.
