Social Care Occupational Therapist- 2 jobs
We have an exciting opportunity to work as part of the Social Care Occupational Therapy team and support individuals within the geographical boundaries of Kirklees Council.
Within the organisation we are increasing our range of Occupational Therapy services and welcome new staff members who are motivated and innovative and who can contribute to these service developments.
Our emphasis is to support individuals to maintain and improve their health and wellbeing, maximise their independence, choice and control. Through improved occupational performance we enable people and their carers to achieve their outcomes, participate in their communities and safeguard them from significant harm.
We want practitioners who have a robust clinical grounding and who can be innovative and creative in the way that they work to deliver services for our local population, thinking “outside of the box” to provide person-centred solutions.
You will work closely with the friendly and supportive Occupational Therapists, in the organisation, as well as other health and social care practitioners, sharing knowledge, skills and competencies across traditional professional boundaries.
A key emphasis is placed on early intervention and prevention, as well as the provision of specialist support and advice, such as undertaking functional or moving and handling assessments, or arranging adaptive solutions in the form of equipment or adaptations as required to help people to develop and sustain their capacities for independent living.
It is essential that you have the ability to demonstrate initiative and work autonomously, being able to manage your own caseload without direct supervision. Kirklees Council are committed to supporting you to keep up to date with changes in practice, legislation and guidance and to ensure that your continuous professional development is maintained.
Travel is an essential part of this job and therefore it would be extremely difficult for you to undertake the role effectively if you did not use a car for all or most of the time. It is essential that you hold a full and valid driving licence and it is expected that you will either use a council vehicle or your own car.
Our offer to you:
- Friendly and supportive team environment
- Flexible working arrangements
- Career development and training
- Generous annual leave entitlement
- Excellent pension scheme
- Kirklees Council honours previous continuous service with the NHS
