Your main duty will be to provide admin support to run the interpretation section of Kirklees Community Languages Service which will include receiving and recording bookings of interpretation assignments; locating interpreters; confirming bookings to customers by making effective use of databases and other IT programmes; processing interpreters claim forms and ensuring that the resources available are used to best effect.

 

You will have experience in a customer service environment with administration, clerical and reception duties. With effective written and verbal communication skills in English, you will also be able to speak fluently in one of the main minority ethnic languages of Kirklees, namely Pahari-Potowari, Urdu, Punjabi, Gujarati, Kurdish, Arabic, Polish or Hungarian.

 

Knowledge and understanding of the cultural and linguistic needs of asylum seekers, refugees and black and minority communities is desirable.
