Kirklees Council are advertising this role on behalf of White Rose Forest.

The White Rose Forest (WRF) is the community forest for North and West Yorkshire and one of 13 community forest partnerships in England. Our partnership of 38 organisations, including all local authorities in the region, national parks, charities, community groups and businesses, is governed by a local authority-based joint venture agreement, with Kirklees Council as the accountable body.

Our aim is to significantly increase tree coverage in North and West Yorkshire over the next 30 years and to do so by bringing people and communities into the process of planning, planting and looking after the trees and new woodlands.

White Rose Forest partners work together to plant millions of trees that will improve our natural environment and create happier and healthier places for us all to live, work and visit. The growing forest will also help meet the challenges of the Climate Emergency by contributing to our climate resilience and support the Government’s aim to reach net zero carbon emissions by 2050. For more information about the White Rose Forest visit The WRF Website.

The funding we have available for woodland creation and the broader support and understanding of the many benefits of tree planting mean there has never been a better time to work in the sector. The core White Rose Forest team are passionate about what they do and the difference they are making.  The White Rose Forest now has the opportunity to appoint a full-time Grants Manager to join the WRF Core Team on a fixed term basis, until March 2025. There may be an opportunity for contracts to be extended subject to external funding. This post is employed through Community Forest Trust, working as part of the White Rose Forest Team.

The Grants Manager is a crucial role within the White Rose Forest team. In this role you will be responsible for the financial management of a complex multi-million-pound programme of investment, ensuring accurate and timely records are kept of evidence of expenditure and income.

You will also be required to collate evidence, analyse and report upon programme expenditure used to facilitate grant claims to our funders and effectively draft, issue and monitor a range of grant funded contracts and agreements between Kirklees Council and WRF grant recipient organisations.

Other requirements of the role include working closely with WRF partner organisations (e.g., local authorities, NGO’s, private landowners, national parks etc) and to take the lead in developing new funding opportunities and working closely with the Programme Director to undertake financial planning for the WRF programme.

To be successful within the role, you will require sound, previous experience within a similar financial management role with demonstratable experience of effectively working with budgets and grant awards. This will also include experience with accounting systems and procurement.

You will also be required to have high level analytical skills with the ability to effectively report and communicate to a variety of internal and external stakeholders.

A degree level, relevant qualification, i.e. ACCA, MBA (or relevant experience), is also essential for the Grants Manager Role.

The Grant Manager, as with all members of the central WRF team, will work from home without an office base, however, there is the requirement to attend monthly meetings in locations spread across North and West Yorkshire and also as required by the needs of the organisation. You well therefore require a driving licence, or the ability to travel to such locations.

In return, during your time with WRF, you will receive a competitive rate of pay, 33 days annual leave each year (including bank holidays), enhanced sick pay provisions, enrolment into the pension scheme plus other benefits, including working with an experiences and passionate Team.

Please email hr@cf-trust.org.uk with a covering letter detailing why your experience fulfils the job description criteria for the role and also a CV. The closing date for applications is 10th April 2023 with anticipated interview dates from w/c 17th April 2023.

We are an equal opportunities employer and welcome applicants from all sections of the community.
