Start Date 1st January 2021 or as soon as possible thereafter

Our successful Church of England School is looking for a passionate, committed Lead Teacher with great enthusiasm and energy to join our team and lead the development of our specialist of provision for children with complex communication and interaction needs. The provision has 12 transitional places for KS1 and KS2 children as well as providing outreach for primary schools in Kirklees. Opportunities like this are rare, you will work alongside our SLT to continue to establish a unit that we hope will provide a first class provision for pupils and ongoing support for their families.

Our school opened in April 2014 and has gone from strength to strength in that time. In November 2016 we were judged as ‘OUTSTANDING’ in a SIAMs inspection and in May 2017 as ‘good’ with outstanding Personal Development, Behaviour and Welfare. We pride ourselves on fostering a welcoming, supportive and nurturing learning environment where all members of the school community work hard to achieve their goals.

This role will involve organising, delivering and evaluating learning for children with complex communication and interaction needs. In the initial stages, you will work alongside the local authority and leadership team of our school to develop your team and establish systems for ensuring children are making maximum progress against their EHCP targets. The role will include leading an outreach team to support pupils with communication and interaction in other mainstream schools as well as develop Windmill CE Primary School as a centre of excellence for transitional places for children with the most complex needs.

This role will involve close liaison with the Strand Lead for communication and interaction needs. It will also involve working with head teachers, SENCOs, class teachers and support staff in a range of mainstream schools.

Our school is well placed for applicants from across West Yorkshire, we are situated very close to Junction 27 of the M62, close to Birstall retail park.

If you wish to discuss the role further, please contact our Deputy Head, Sarah Mann via the school office on 01924 470555.
