An opportunity has arisen to contribute to the work of Kirklees Venues at a particularly exciting time for the service.  Operating within an increasingly commercial environment, we aim to maximise both the usage and income generating opportunities of all our venues by providing a vibrant and varied events programme (including live music and comedy and amateur dramatics) whilst delivering an affordable high-quality service and working with partners to deliver key Council outcomes for the community.

The Hudawi Centre is a well-utilised venue in Huddersfield Town Centre comprising a large hall with stage, a bar area with well equipped kitchen as well as meeting and training rooms for hire.

This is a challenging but rewarding role which incorporates the following key outcomes: -

Ensuring the delivery of a safe and efficient customer-focussed service

Overseeing the smooth day-to-day running of the Hudawi Centre

Supervising and directing casually employed staff during events

Dealing with complaints and queries quickly and professionally

Liaising effectively with hirers, potential hirers, and Council colleagues as appropriate

Actively assisting with the successful delivery of events and bookings

With a friendly, supportive and respectful manner you will enjoy the opportunity to engage with a wide and diverse range of customers from both inside and outside the Council. Your excellent communication skills will underpin and support this.  You will be a ‘self-starter’ with the ability to manage your own workload.  You will have the ability to work effectively on your own as well as part of a small and supportive team.

You will focus on ‘getting the job done’ by adopting a flexible and ‘can do’ approach to operational challenges, problem-solving and competing priorities. Remaining calm and thoughtful under pressure, you will thrive in what can be a fast-moving, demanding and constantly changing work environment.  A strong team player, you will appropriately support your colleagues to ensure the best possible outcomes for all our customers.

If you have experience of working in community buildings or an arts / leisure environment and you are commercially minded and seeking a role in a challenging but enjoyable work setting, we would love to hear from you.

Please demonstrate how you meet the essential criteria as outlined in the employee specification, in the attached job profile. We will be shortlisting candidates based on the answers provided in this section, so it is important you provide a comprehensive answer.
