These jobs are temporary up to December 2022 to cover a project.

The Customer & Communities is a relatively new directorate which brings together a range of different services – Communities, Community Plus, Customer Service Centres, Libraries, Registrar and Wellness Services. Both posts will be supporting senior managers and the directorate’s Covid response based at Civic Centre 1 or 3 in Huddersfield Town Centre (currently the teams are working from home).

Customer & Communities is expanding all the time to meet the diverse needs of the communities and the demands through Covid. Some typical regular tasks for both posts:

  • Diary management for senior managers
  • Facilitating meetings (booking rooms, taking minutes, circulating papers)
  • Communicating both internally and externally via letter, email or text
  • Relationship building with elected members, Third Sector Leaders, Volunteers and Stakeholders
  • SAP (internal finance software) creating purchase orders and processing invoices
  • Sourcing, ordering and maintaining equipment and stationery
  • Supporting colleagues and managers with IT issues, formatting and/or creating documents in Word, Excel, Publisher or PowerPoint
  • Storage and retrieval of sensitive data under current GDPR and Retention and Destruction guidelines.

Support from Business Support Officers is both valued and invaluable to the success of the services. The ideal successful candidates will be organised, flexible, interested and willing to contribute to the work being done, friendly and approachable with a ‘can do’ attitude and strong work ethic. The work will be varied and sometimes have challenging deadlines.

It is essential that you are familiar with computer packages such as Microsoft Word, Access and Excel and that you are able to demonstrate business admin skills to NVQ Level 2. You should also have a level of literacy and numeracy to be able to produce routine documentation and statistical information.
