This post is a temporary role until November 2022.
It is an exciting time for culture in Kirklees and for the Council who, after adopting a place-based approach to cultural development, have instigated two key strategic initiatives that support priorities within Culture Kirklees, the vision for the council’s cultural services. These initiatives are WOVEN in Kirklees, a biennial textiles festival that celebrates the industry and research in the district, and MUSiK, a development programme that includes delivering a Year of Music in 2023.
This role is to manage the Creative Development team, ensuring effective and successful delivery of these strategic initiatives and team key priorities and ensuring the wider work on place-making, public art, advocacy, inward investment and external funding is sustained and grows. It is also about overseeing the ongoing management of our online platform www.creativekirklees.com and that the respective social media channels are maintained and continue to develop. Continuous improvement, innovation and transformation of approaches is essential to ensure we achieve our objectives, to be truly place based and to support cultural development of the communities of Kirklees.
Just some of your key areas of responsibility:
- You will be highly motivated, and your behaviour, experience and knowledge will give you the credibility that you need to build effective working relationships, both internally and externally to the organisation, to ensure you effectively lead on the team and council agendas.
- As a strategic thinking, able to understand how your work contributes to the delivery of the Council’s 7 shared outcomes and how Kirklees can work with partners locally, regionally and nationally.
- Supporting the Strategic Lead for Cultural Development and representing where required locally and regionally, liaising with key partners and community groups.
We are looking for talented people to join our ambitious, creative and highly collaborative team. We want to hear from you if you:
- Have experience of leading, supporting or contributing to the development, management and delivery of complex cross cutting major and strategic scale applications, cultural or community programmes and projects/festivals
- Demonstrable experience in leading and managing diverse skill base and knowlegde within teams and in working in effective partnerships across multiple sectors.
- Knowledge of the cultural sector and how it contributes and meets the outcomes on other agendas and sectors.
