This job is internally restricted. To apply for this job you must be an employee of the Council for the duration of the recruitment process – up to and including the start date. You must also be a substantive employee (or an employee with 12 months continuous service or more) of the Council or an Apprentice. Cherry Tree's is an eight bedded respite unit located in Shepley. It provides short stays for adults with learning disabilities and associated support needs.
You will have strong leadership skills and be dedicated to promoting excellent care practice and the smooth running of the service through your staff. It is important to the Authority that these services receive both local and national recognition so you will need the relevant skills to develop, in conjunction with specialist officers, a marketing strategy that clearly sets out the vision of our residential services.
You will have a strong business mind and be capable in budget management and financial accountability in line with the authority’s financial procedures. Changes in policy and procedures at service level will also need to be effectively implemented. In this senior role, you will be expected to represent the service at meetings, conferences etc., presenting a positive image of the Service and communicating its values, aims and objectives at all times.
You will be aware of the policies required to manage your establishment and deal with all aspects of HR management including monitoring staff skillset and ensuring that the general safety and security of the building is maintained, with standards of hygiene and cleanliness being maintained throughout.
Staff development is a fundamental aspect of the work and as Manager, you will need to ensure your staff receive formal induction training, professional supervision and performance appraisals in line with corporate policy, as well as striving for personal development also.
You will be friendly and personable as a large part of your role will be to establish and maintain relationships with service users and relatives, as well as other professionals and support networks.
The comfort and wellbeing of our service users is paramount, and you will need the skills to work with complex and diverse cases to meet individual needs in a sensitive and effective way under diverse circumstances.
