At Kirklees we want to be innovative and creative in the way we work to deliver Early Support Services. The Kirklees Early Support Partnership has developed a vision of what it is hoping to achieve.

We are looking for driven, hard-working and respectful individuals with a passion and enthusiasm about the potential of children and young people. We need innovative ideas and leadership to support capacity building, raise the youth voice and influence the emerging youth offer.

What’s the attraction

This is the development of new youth work in Kirklees and so if you are passionate about making a difference in the lives of children and young people in Kirklees, this is the opportunity to be involved from the start to create something ne

The Team

The team will take a positive, can do approach. We model the council behaviours and value and respect one another’s views, opinions and ideas. There has been a pilot with former youth workers testing out and developing small bits of the work. They are all enthusiastic about the direction for the work because it puts children, young people and communities at the centre.

Working Pattern

It does require an amount of evening and weekend work and we can’t be flexible on that (so not suitable for someone who actually does want to work Mon-Friday 9 to 5). It is evenings and weekends and so suits anyone who wants to take a mid-week day off or come in later some days of the week.

You will need:

Knowledge and experience of Detached Youth Work;

Ability to engage vulnerable/at risk young people in an informal setting including streets and open spaces;

Excellent casework skills;

Leadership/management skills;

Budget management;

Positive communication skills;

Flexibility and responsiveness to the needs of individuals and groups.
