The Community Wellbeing Teams undertake initial assessments, reviews and safeguarding enquiries for vulnerable people and their carers in the community.
Working with adults over the age of 18 with physical, sensory disabilities and mental health needs.
A high-quality strength based, and customer focused approach is expected to assist service users ensuring good outcomes are achieved.
The pace of work means you need to be organised and resilient but most of all you will care about the people we are working with.
The Role
You will be supporting a visually impaired Social Worker to enable them to carry out their duties efficiently, effectively, and safely, including accompanying them to visits and meetings with service users where there may be issues to deal with which are sensitive and of potential conflict.
You will have experience of working in an administrative setting and have the ability to use a variety of software packages, in particular Microsoft Office.
It is essential that you have the ability to put visual information into words and be able to understand and explain non-verbal communications e.g., body language.
Travel is an essential part of this job and therefore it would be extremely difficult for you to do your job effectively if you did not use a car for all or most of the time. It is essential that you hold a full and valid driving licence, and it is expected that you will either use a council vehicle or your own car. Exceptions may be made for disabled applicants.
