Internally restricted job. To apply for this job you must be an employee of the Council for the duration of the recruitment process – up to and including the start date. You must also be a substantive employee (or an employee with 12 months continuous service or more) of the Council or an Apprentice. Please note that if you work for an Academy you are not an employee of the Council.

At Kirklees we want to be innovative and creative in the way we work to deliver Early Support Services by developing a unifying but not uniformed offer, which reflects the needs and strengths of children, young people, families and communities. Early support for children and families is more effective and less expensive than intervening when problems become entrenched. Even if early support cannot stop problems escalating, targeted and evidence-based support for those at most risk, can still make a difference and reduce the need for the high costs of social care involvement and taking children into care.

We need our employees to be driven to achieve the best, to be hard working, respectful and thoughtful to each other and our customers and to be creative, wherever they work. As a committed, passionate manager and a strong advocate for change, you will be creative and enthusiastic about finding new ways of working with children, young people and their families, partners and communities.

You will support and report to the Early Support Area Leads in developing and maintaining the Early Support Partnership, contributing to the development and implementation of the Early Support Strategy, policies and procedures. Ability and proven experience to deliver high quality cost effective Early Support services to meet service user outcomes are required along with:

Significant demonstrable experience managing teams to deliver high quality children’s services including successful employee, budget, resource and change management.

Knowledge and understanding of developments in Children’s Social Care and the ability to translate into the implications for the Early Support service.
