Kirklees Catering Service operates the meal provision in High Schools, Middle Schools, Primary Schools, along with 5 commercial premises and all the Town Halls across Kirklees.

The service employs a bank of flexible/mobile staff to provide cover in kitchens for sickness and vacancies. The main purpose of this role is to ensure that these staff are placed where they are required on a daily basis and respond to the fluctuating needs of the service by coordinating casual cover by liaising with the Catering Managers and Supervisors on a day to day basis.

You will also support the recruitment of catering staff by responding to telephone enquiries from interested applicants and supporting the application, recruitment and selection process.

Requirements for the job:

  • Solid administration skills and the ability to use the Microsoft Office IT package range of applications effectively to record placement of staff, hours worked and any related data and to support the induction and training process. A basic working knowledge of MS Teams would be a distinct advantage.
  • To communicate professionally and calmly; particularly over the telephone
  • Knowledge of the Kirklees area is essential to minimize travel time and ensure staff are placed in the most appropriate location
  • Good organizational skills are essential to meet the deadlines of the role

We require the successful candidate to be able to start work at 8am Monday to Friday to be available to arrange sickness/absence cover across our schools. Finish time would be 2.30pm however we operate a flexible working policy within the Council.
