Children’s Services in Kirklees are ambitious. We want Kirklees to be the best place for children and young people to grow up. Families, communities and the voice of the child are at the heart of our improvement journey. We also want children and families to be at the centre of the plans for Place, Partners and People in Kirklees.

We are seeking a Service Director to help us fulfil and deliver our ambitions; to achieve excellence across all Children’s Services by maximising its resources, developing further its relationships with key stakeholders and partners, ensuring that the young people in Kirklees are engaged and influence the developments and plans across the Authority.
As well as recognising our strengths you will be able to innovate and in a challenging environment develop new ways of working and engagement. Key to your approach will be understanding our Restorative Practice model and ensuring that this further embedded across the organisation.
You will focus initially on leading the development of the infrastructure to sustain and strengthen our outcomes, demonstrating how we are making a real difference to people’s lives. You will understand and anticipate the pressures facing the social care, learning and education sectors and ensure that the right organisational capacity is developed to deliver their plans.
Working with partners you will lead on the strategic development of the Kirklees Children and Young People’s Plan to create a shared vision and approach ensuring Children have the best start in life. Working across Kirklees and the region you will make sure our voice is heard with strong and effective relationships developing to improve the life chances for children and young people. Understanding how partners in Kirklees can maximise resources and budgets through commissioning and other routes with a pivotal aspect of this role.
You will lead for the Directorate on the key themes of People, Partners, Place, and you will make sure that Children’s plays an important role in these developments.
You will have experience of delivering and transforming a range of functions with drive and resilience. You will be able to set strategic direction and work with others to deliver future-defining change. We are looking for an influential leader who build relationships, inspire confidence and develop partnerships and collaboration where and when it matters.
