One Adoption West Yorkshire (OAWY) is a shared regional adoption service across the 5 West Yorkshire Local Authorities. It is hosted by Leeds City Council with office bases across West Yorkshire and is responsible for the recruitment and assessment of adopters, family finding for children and adoption support.

The OAWY Multidisciplinary team is a recently formed service, which offers an integrated, service, focused on the needs of adopted children and their families, aiming to create flexible partnership working models across health, education, and the voluntary and independent sectors across the region. We want to improve the wellbeing of the family members and the stability and quality of family life by working with and supporting staff and families.

Our focus aims to decrease the impact of the developmental trauma and neurodiversity, improving the child’s/young person/family future outcomes. The service will strive to offer an evidence based approach, building in robust outcome monitoring and review processes.

Working in close partnership with the health and education sectors in the region we seek to develop working practices, care pathways and specialist therapies that meet the needs of adopted children and offer more appropriate and effective support for adopted children/young people within nurseries and schools. Ultimately, we want to improve the services offered to all adoptive children, young people and families.

We are looking for an experienced, likeminded Senior Therapeutic Social Worker (1 WTE) to join our team and to work with OAWY and the partnering agencies to provide high quality and comprehensive therapeutic social work services to children and their families. We are looking for a passionate individual to join us to improve current services and practices by promoting the assessment and quality framework and evidenced based practice and developing new interventions and approaches.

This is an experienced Senior Social Worker role with specific responsibilities for managing a caseload of higher levels of complexity, which will include assessment and management of risk within the context of therapeutic need.
