You will be joining a fast-paced multi award-winning procurement team at a crucial and important time in driving standards and best practice within our category led approach to procurement.   

We are looking for highly ambitious, enthusiastic people who are customer focused, add value, demonstrate all of the Council’s behaviours and expectations and continually strive for excellence. You will play an important role in the delivery of a fantastic, forward thinking, flexible, creative, commercial and collaborative procurement team, which aims to exemplify excellent procurement practice.    

As a Senior Procurement Officer, you will be self-disciplined, working within a busy and progressive department and be responsible for driving a busy pipeline of procurement's at pace along with delivering value for money and procuring goods, services and works through 3rd party providers. These posts will ensure that all procurement activities are maximising best value along with fully complying with the Councils Contract Procedure Rules, and national procurement legislation.  

There are up to 3 x Senior Procurement Officer positions which will provide flexible support across all strategic categories that spend and contracts are aligned to. Up to two of these posts will sit within the Built Environment cluster, which consist of; 

  • Construction and Infrastructure
  • Housing
  • Facilities Management, Transport & Environment 

The other post may sit within one of the other following categories; 

  • Corporate and IT
  • Adults, Childrens and Public Health

Requirements for this job:  

  • Knowledge and experience of public sector procurement processes and national procurement legislation. 
  • An awareness of various industries/supply chain challenges. 
  • Excellent IT skills and experience or awareness of using electronic purchasing systems e.g., YORtender, SAP or alternative systems. 
  • A team player who is solution focused with a flexible style of approach, able to use own initiative and ready to take on any challenge. 
  • Experience of managing relationships, motivating and influencing stakeholders, and effective communication at all levels. 
  • Ability to search, analyse and present information in different formats and to different audiences. 
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage conflicting priorities. 
  • Demonstrates willingness to work towards achieving the Level 4 CIPS (Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply).
