The Specialist Technician role is extremely varied, certainly no two days are the same. One day you could be visiting a school site to carry out maintenance and repairs, the next you could be refurbishing a classroom. It is really important that all nine of our academy schools are exceptionally well maintained to provide a fit and proper place for children and young people to learn, your efforts will be pivotal to this aim.

To start in the role as soon as possible, you will undertake general building and maintenance work which may include plumbing, plastering, joinery, internal decorating and painting, depending upon your skill set. Reporting to the Senior Specialist Technician, this is an opportunity to join a small, friendly and hard-working team which is well-established and prides itself on delivering a high-quality operational service.

The ideal candidate will:

  • have a broad range of craftsmanship, practical skills and technical knowledge;
  • be experienced in using hardware tools and equipment;
  • be well organised and apt at problem-solving;
  • have basic numeracy and literacy skills, able to read and understand instructions;
  • be a great team player with excellent customer service skills
  • ideally have some experience of working with contractors;
  • have great references demonstrating they are a suitable candidate, safe to work in an education setting.
