To apply for this job you must be an employee of Kirklees Council for the duration of the recruitment process – up to and including the start date - and have successfully completed your probationary period.
Please note that if you work for an Academy you are not an employee of the Council.
The Kirklees Economic Strategy establishes the council’s ambition to capitalise on these assets and support the growth of an inclusive and productive economy; weaving together investment in skills, innovation, and infrastructure. With ambitious employment targets, strategic employment sites and town centre regeneration objectives set out in the Kirklees Local Plan, and the Huddersfield and Dewsbury Blueprints respectively, there has never been a better time to be part of the proactive and forward thinking Business, Economy and Growth service.
The Council’s Business Team works closely with businesses and partner organisations to encourage and support business start-up, growth, innovation and inward investment.
Within the Business Team sits the project management office and this is instrumental in driving the delivery and implementation of key projects and initiatives which support economic growth and prosperity in Kirklees. We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic individual to lead the project management office and work alongside business team colleagues on a task and finish basis to help scope, design and deliver economic development and business support projects, informing ongoing WYCA strategy and programme development in the key area of business, enterprise and innovation and in developing the future pipeline of both local and WY-wide programmes, ensuring the Business, Economy and Growth service maximises its impact.
Reporting to the Business Team Manager you will work as part of the Kirklees Business Team to promote the support available to businesses in Kirklees, highlighting the district as a great place to invest and to do business. You will work closely with colleagues in the Business and Team, and from the Local Enterprise Partnership and other local, regional and national partner agencies, assisting in the current and future projects across the Business Team, alongside core roles which are part of the Project Officer role.
